The people of Tampere got their first runs from Hyvinkää’s junior mistakes.

Manse Pp, the second runner-up in the regular season defending the championship, defeated Hyvinkää Tahko, who visited Tampere, 2–0 (7–2, 3–1) in the opening match.
“Maybe he improved in the second period, but this was a good match for us. No breakthroughs were allowed, so it made our job easier”, described Mansen’s handyman Tuomas Jussila.
The opening period was practically over even before Tahko’s first at-bat. Manse started by scoring four runs, all of which came on junior-level errors by the Tahko players Konsta Lehtola, Petteri Alanen, Miikka Matikka and Jere Vikström. Four of the seven runs in the hosts’ opening innings came by bat Perttu Ruuska and three brought Juuso Myllyniemi.
