The new car of Barbie presented at Los Angeles Auto Show from Mattel it looks like a completely new model, with its wings on the sides and star-studded headlights. But under the bodywork there is an already established knowledge of the Italian market. We are talking about the Fiat 500e, which lent interior and ‘mechanics’ to the life-size car of the famous doll.
Unfortunately the car cannot be driven: it is a show car, after all. But children all over the world will be able to purchase it, in playable size, with the same design features. Today Barbie is environmentally conscious, albeit made of plastic, and has abandoned Corvette and Jeep to get a quieter Fiat. And there’s no denying that the electric 500 is glamorous, because it has indeed based much of its success on this theme. In reality, apart from the completely pink interior, there is nothing that resembles the Fiat 500: depending on the angle, the Barbie supercar resembles the Lamborghini Murcielago, the Nissan Z, the Corvette C8. On the other hand, the rainbow rims are very remarkable, which from a stylistic point of view bring to mind the eighties supercars. The fur headrests are another gem not to be underestimated.
EXTRA sporty. EXTRA stylish. EXTRA sleek.
Starting 11/19, Barbie kicks into high gear with a life-size version of the new #BarbieEXTRA car, on display exclusively at the @LAAutoShow. Shop your own #BarbieEXTRA car, only at Walmart! #BarbieEXTRAGoesTurbo https://t.co/YnmqelU4yi pic.twitter.com/RZOqV7s0eq– Barbie (@Barbie) November 17, 2021
This convertible doesn’t really have any flaws, although perhaps the wings might not be so useful in aerodynamic terms: if it really existed, this car would certainly not have a record range. On Instagram the car was a great success among Barbie fans and at the Los Angeles Auto Show its presentation was one of the most scenic at the show.
The electric Fiat 500 hidden under the glitter is not the only Italian protagonist in the fairy world of Barbie. In fact, Mattel has recently launched additional accessories for mobility, giving space also to a classic Vespa in a set devoted entirely to diversity and anti-racism. The Italian creative Alessandro Enriquez designed it.
