Weather alert for seven Italian regions: civil protection urges caution
Italy is under the influence of a wave of bad weather that is affecting several regions, causing not only inconvenience but also significant damage. The regions affected by the alert for tomorrow include Calabria, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Molise, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia. Severe thunderstorms are expected in these areas, which could be accompanied by heavy showers, lightning and hail.
The forecast for tomorrow does not leave much room for optimism, especially for some areas of Southern Italy. In Sicilythe pouring rain and violent hailstorms that have hit Enna and its province in the last few hours do not seem destined to stop. Yesterday, a hailstorm devastated the crops between Barrafranca and Pietraperzia, where entire olive groves were decimated. The heartfelt words of a farmer testify to the dramatic nature of the situation:
“The crop has been destroyed and was already compromised by the drought, now it has been wiped out by the hail.”
While Southern Italy is battling bad weather, the North and Center of the country are grappling with suffocating heat. Temperatures, in stark contrast to the typical autumn temperatures of the period, will reach peaks of 37-38 degrees tomorrow, with highs above 30 degrees everywhere. This anomalous heat, which according to experts is 6-8 degrees above seasonal averages, is creating an atmosphere of strong atmospheric instability, contributing to the formation of sudden and violent storms.
