Make consultations about dermatology from the family doctor’s consultation to the hospital specialist will be possible through teleconsultations. A pilot program will start in the Community of Madrid, as the regional president, Isabel announced Monday … Díaz Ayuso. It will be called ‘Teledermadrid’, and for the moment, it will work in a limited number of health centers and in three hospitals, but the objective is to extend this plan to the rest of the Madrid public health network.
The objective, the president explained, is “to gain time, to leave aside unnecessary procedures, and be more effective.” The idea is that diagnoses can be given in less than 72 hours. Specifically, it will work like this: the health centers of the health centers value patients in the consultation and send an image of the injury that the user presents with the necessary information so that the dermatologist can study the case and decide what the patient needs. The novelty is that in just 72 hours, the dermatologist will assess the test from the image provided by the doctor or pediatrician of a health center.
At the moment, it is being carried out in three hospitals of the Madrid public network and three health centers: between the Infanta Leonor University Hospital and the Campo de La Paloma Health Center, in Vallecas; between the La Paz University Hospital and the Manzanares El Real Health Center; and the Iron Puerta Majadahonda with the Counts Health Center of Barcelona, in Boadilla del Monte. In the future, it will extend throughout the system. And in addition, Díaz Ayuso has advanced that it will also begin to apply “with many more specialties to gain time and lose those procedures that in many cases are unnecessary.”
Díaz Ayuso has made this announcement during his visit to the new endoscopias unit that has just released the Puerta de Hierro-Mojadahonda hospital. The regional government has invested 11 million euros in these new facilities, and will be one of the most advanced units in Europe in its specialty. It has 11 rooms with toe technology and doubles its operational volume, passing the 20,000 procedures annually to almost 40,000 that can be carried out from now on.
The enclosure, sources of health explained, is designed to guarantee the optimal care of patients. It has 29 individual boxes for its preparation prior to the realization of the prescribed technique and its subsequent recovery, together with its companions. “These compartments have continuous monitoring systems that reinforce the security and quality of assistance, being controlled at all times by nursing professionals,” they added.
In addition, all theaters have an integrated audiovisual system that allows to transmit live explorations, which facilitates collaborative work between professionals within the endoscopy unit and opens the possibility of teaching online courses for specialists in the field of the world.
This new infrastructure of Madrid’s public health helps reinforce the experience of the iron door in advanced endoscopy. In fact, this has been recently designated as one of the centers, services and reference units (CSUR) in advanced therapy in front of primary achalasia of type III (a swallowing condition that affects the esophagus) by means of peroral endoscopic myotomy (poem ).
Likewise, the complex continues to offer high complexity procedures such as endoscopic submucose dissection (DSE), which has an increasing demand for the treatment of precocity neoplasms of the digestive tract, and other vanguardial endoscopic techniques for that of the biliopancreatic pathology and the study of liver diseases.
In 2024, Iron Puerta Majadahonda attended 668,987 patients in external consultations of different units and services and performed 22,042 surgical interventions. In the hospitalization area, the health center registered 28,092 income and 200,723 emergencies. It has 613 beds, all of them in individual rooms.
