You never see a Holden in the Netherlands, let alone three!
Since we started this section, a wide range of cars have passed by, but a car from Down Under has not yet been included. We're making up for that now, because we're killing three Australian birds with one stone this week.
Encountering one Australian car is already special, but @thomcarspotter managed to spot no fewer than three in a Utrecht parking garage. As a car connoisseur you have to come from a good background to recognize these cars, so we will go through them one by one.
Let's start with the orange ute with a Belgian license plate. This looks very sporty, but it is basically 'just' a standard Holden Ute, with a V6. However, the owner has pimped the car a bit, with a body kit, different rims, a wrap and air ride.
A regular ute is already a unique appearance in our region, but the white ute with a Dutch license plate is really special. This is an HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) Maloo, the performance version of the Holden Ute. This is equipped with a big 6.2 liter LS3 V8. Such an LS3 V8 is already very brutal, but this one is also tuned by Walkinshaw Performance. This now produces 442 hp and 550 Nm of torque.
The third car in the group is not a ute, but a sedan. This car also bears a Holden logo, but @thomcarspotter reports that this is secretly a Pontiac G8. That doesn't really matter, because the Pontiac G8 is another rebadged Holden Commodore. So we see a Holden, a Pontiac and an HSV here, but they all have the same basis: a Holden Commodore.
This is a unique scene in the Netherlands, because there are only 17 Holdens with Dutch license plates (including the older models). The HSV Maloo is completely unique, because there is only one of them in our country. And you can probably count the number of copies in Europe on one hand anyway.
This week the honor of Spot of the Week goes to @thomcarspotter. Have you also spotted something special? Share your photos Autoblog Spots and who knows, your spot might be spotlighted in this section next week! You will also receive a beautiful Autoblog cap or hat as a souvenir.
