Anthony Albanese attended the ceremony at the seat of parliament in Canberra, the Australian capital
The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who died on Thursday (8.Sep.2022), aged 96. At the seat of parliament in Canberra, the Australian capital, the prime minister placed flowers on the statue of the monarch.
The bronze monument was unveiled in 1988 during a visit by the Queen to the seat of the Australian parliament. The ceremony was conducted in silence and was attended by other government officials.
Albanese spoke about the ceremony on her Twitter profile, and quoted a phrase from the Queen: “Pain is the price we pay for love”. Here’s the post:
At the Sydney Opera House a picture of the queen was projected onto the building’s facade. “Across Australia, monuments and buildings were lit in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, reflecting the light she brought to so many.”, published Albanian.
As a sign of respect for the death of the queen, on Friday (9.set), a salvo of 96 shots – in reference to the age of the monarch – was held in the courtyard of parliament.
