The development of Project Re Fantasy enters an advanced stage.
Among the games in development at Atlus, there is Project King Fantasy, the new JRPG headed by Katsura Hashino of Persona 5, a title that currently remains shrouded in mystery several years after its announcement. However, there may be news in sight.
Japan’s 4Gamer website published an extensive article in which local developers shared their plans for 2022.
Hashino-san himself was among them and said that while various existing series games have recently been launched by the company, 2022 marks the beginning of a period where they will be able to develop entirely new games.
Furthermore, he admitted that the development of Project Re Fantasy was influenced by some twists, but it is finally reaching its climax.
Shin producer Megami Tensei V also spoke, Shinjiro Takada, who said his aspiration for 2022 is to create a game that will serve as a pillar for Atlus.
Project Re Fantasy was announced way back in 2016, but for now we have only seen some artwork by acclaimed character designer Shigenori Soejima and some concept videos.
We also know that the music will be composed by Shoji Meguro, who has since left Atlus, but will continue to work for the developer as a freelance. It will be interesting to see if 2022 finally leads to a revelation, but for now we will have to wait and see.
