Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer GUST released the launch trailer Of Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious DreamJapanese role-playing game available from today in Europe on Nintendo Switch, PC and PS4. You can see it at the head of the news.
The video shows gameplay sequences and introduces us once again Sophie and Plachta, the protagonists of the adventure. Let’s read the details on the story taken from the official press release: “After leaving Kirchen Bell, Sophie’s hometown, the duo discover a huge tree identical to the one Plachta had seen in a dream. As they approach, a mysterious vortex draws them into her, launching them into the dream world of Erde Wiege, separating them from her. Sophie then sets off in search of her best friend and returns home, encountering a variety of new characters along the way who are ready to join the search team. Will Sophie be able to find Plachta and uncover the truth behind this mysterious new world?”
Here are more details about the game:
“During the journey, Sophie will explore the vast landscapes of the magical Erde Wiege. These lands are filled with an abundance of resources and materials perfect for use in alchemy, with some collection points that stand out. The newly introduced main collection locations will challenge players to a minigame, if they have the right collection tool, and depending on their achievement, the quality and number of materials collected will increase! Once the materials have been collected, they can be used in the synthesis system of the Atelier series. The last chapter uses an updated panel synthesis system where alchemical components are strategically placed on it to increase the final object quality and effect levels.
When collecting materials around the world, players will notice a variety of different creatures roaming the lands, ready to attack! For the first time in the series, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream features a battle system that starts instantly with no loading times or separate screens, allowing the game to flow seamlessly between exploration and combat. Battles are made up of six party members – three in front (the strike team) and three behind (the backup team) – with players being able to change character positions at will. Changing character positions carefully and using the new Twin Action and Dual Trigger abilities is key to defeating more challenging monsters. In some battles, Weather Control can also be used to take down enemies thanks to the power of Mother Nature. Will Sophie and her friends survive the fight and find Plachta before it’s too late.“
