The official Syrian news agency SANA said, quoting a military source, “The Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a residential building in the Damascus countryside.”
She added: “The aggression resulted in two civilians being injured and some material losses.”
For his part, the director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel Rahman, spoke to Agence France-Presse about “sounding explosions in the Damascus countryside governorate as a result of Israeli strikes on sites belonging to groups loyal to Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah.”
The Sayyida Zeinab area is an area of influence for groups loyal to Tehran.
Thirteen people were killed, including five advisors in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, as a result of an Israeli raid that targeted a building in the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus on January 20, according to the Observatory.
These strikes coincide with the war that has been ongoing in the Gaza Strip since October 7, and fears are increasing that it will expand. Since then, Israel has repeatedly targeted Syrian territory, and the bombing has repeatedly targeted Damascus and Aleppo international airports, as well as sites belonging to Hezbollah.
