Large groups of young people meet in Günthersburgpark, especially on weekends. After a few raids, the police are now showing their presence.

A series of robberies in Frankfurt’s Günthersburgpark unsettled many young people who regularly meet there in the evenings. The police want to react with an increased presence. That doesn’t convince everyone by any means.
I.Pauli and his friends preferred to leave their bags at home this Friday evening. They carry the valuables directly on their bodies. The “Günni”, the Günthersburgpark in Frankfurt’s Nordend, is actually the place for Pauli where he meets his friends at the weekend, where they sit together on the wall or on the benches, drink and celebrate. But since there have been an increasing number of incidents in which young people have been attacked and robbed in recent months, many no longer feel safe.
“I also experienced physical violence here once,” says Pauli. That, of course, has an impact, and if you then notice that more has been happening lately, it leaves you feeling uncomfortable. “A place as beautiful as Günthersburgpark will simply be ruined for us,” says the sixteen-year-old.
