The credibility of Washington’s statements regarding the intelligence and military spheres has declined in recent years due to a number of erroneous and deliberately false statements. About this on Saturday, February 5, writes the publication Associated Press.
According to the publication, the distrust was confirmed by the recent allegations of the American side about Russia’s alleged preparation of a provocation in Ukraine. At the same time, it is emphasized that the State Department did not provide proof to journalists and urged them to take his word for it.
No, they have not disclosed what made them say they knew Russia was plotting a false flag operation as a pretext to invade Ukraine.
As the AP notes, “The lack of transparency has eroded Washington’s already dwindling credibility, a critical resource that has been eroded over decades by lies, falsifications and errors in everything from extramarital affairs to the lack of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.”
Earlier, on February 3, the head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price, made a statement that Russia was preparing a video that would show an attack on it by Ukraine.
However, he was unable to provide any evidence of the preparation of the video and disclose what kind of information the US authorities have in this regard. Price justified himself by saying that US officials should protect the “sources and methods” of obtaining information, and urged to take his word for it.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the allegation that Russia is preparing such a video nonsense.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov also commented on reports that a fake video was being prepared. He stated that this is not the first time such data has been published in the United States, but nothing follows from this.
At the same time, the Russian Embassy in the United States was not surprised by the emergence of a new “creative” scenario, voiced by the State Department and the Pentagon, about Russia’s allegedly preparing an operation against Ukraine under a “foreign flag”. The creation of such fakes is typical of the United States, the diplomatic mission explained.
In the United States and EU countries, they have recently expressed concern about the alleged increase in Russia’s “aggressive actions” against Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly denied such accusations, saying that it does not threaten anyone, and such statements are used as an excuse to place as much NATO military equipment as possible near the borders of the Russian Federation.
So, on January 30, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev called the statements of the US authorities about the alleged Russian threat towards Ukraine absurd. The West is pursuing “some selfish fabrications of its own,” he pointed out. At the same time, the Ukrainian side itself indicates the absence of a threat.
