Tunisian Ons Jabeur, ranked ninth in the world, qualified for the quarter-finals of the German Stuttgart 500 tennis tournament, with her difficult victory over Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.
Jaber, 29 years old, fell three places in the world rankings, after failing to achieve any victory since the Abu Dhabi tournament in February.
At that time, the Tunisian woman defeated Britain's Emma Raducano in the quarter-finals, and was then eliminated by Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maya, before falling at the first threshold in the Doha, Indian Wells and Miami tournaments, all the way to Charleston, when her career ended early at the hands of Collins himself.
The champion of Charleston last year, and the runner-up in the 2022 edition, will play in the eighth final, with Italian Yasmine Paolini, 12th, who was crowned in Dubai at the beginning of this year.
Jaber fell behind in the first set, losing her serve twice, before turning the tables in the second set, which witnessed high competition, where Jaber lost her serve twice again, but broke her opponent’s serve three times.
The third set was more difficult for the two players, as Jabeur broke Alexandrova's serve first and returned the second, but the Tunisian was better in the tie-break, as she broke her opponent's serve three times.
