Asomarimur has the support of Hoytú, the CCT, Estrella de Levante and Acho and has managed to get the Ministry of the Presidency to request this event from the Regional Assembly
The Association of Friends of the Marinera (Asomarimur) announced this Saturday that the procedures have begun so that April 10 is designated as the International Day of the Marinera. “April 10 is perfect for a ten product, and it is also day 100 on the calendar, for a 100% Murcian product,” said its president, Luis Millán, at the presentation of Asomarinur.
For the association, “establishing April 10 as the International Day of the Marinera would be a fundamental step to dignify and duly put on the map one of the most important gastronomic products of the Region of Murcia, which, however, we consider it has not been treated fairly nor has it been given the importance it deserves in gastronomic circles, whether regional, national or international”.
“So far, we have managed to get the Ministry of the Presidency to ask the Regional Assembly for this event, an initiative that has had, since its inception, a broad representation of Murcian society,” said the president of Asomarimur.
The association was created under the umbrella of Hoytú, the Regional Federation of Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs, and the Tourism Qualification Center. It already has the support of entities and companies in the Murcian tourism and gastronomic sector as emblematic as Estrella de Levante and Acho.
According to its president, “we have established ourselves as an association to promote the consumption of this Murcian gastronomic symbol, so that anyone who wishes can enjoy this unparalleled product and also promote the holding of events around the seafood, in order to duly value the key role it plays in Murcian gastronomy».
The president of Asomarimur explained that the association was born “as a result of the enthusiasm of a group of people who are moved solely by their passion for this wonderful gastronomic element, we do not have any kind of profit motive, in fact if any of our actions achieve any type of collection, everything will go to social entities, such as the Red Cross, which dedicate their activity to alleviating the difficult situation that thousands of Murcian families are going through, at all levels.
‘La marinera’, whose origin is located in the port city of Cartagena, is “the undisputed queen of the Murcian aperitif, it includes a large number of variables in its preparation” and, in the words of Luis Millán, “it has a privileged place in the ideology Murcia, always related to moments with friends, enjoying the good things in life, with our sun and the magnificent urban and natural landscapes of our Region of Murcia».
