Ciudad Juarez.- Without ruling out works in the state or this border region, yesterday President López Obrador gave his sixth Government report in the Zócalo of Mexico City.
The only action that the president highlighted in his message to the border was the implementation of the fiscal stimulus program in force since 2019.
“On the northern border, half of the VAT has been charged since we arrived and half of the ISR, in that region gasoline and diesel cost on average four pesos per liter less than in the rest of the country and the minimum wage has been tripled in real terms,” he said.
He also noted that during his administration, maintenance work was carried out on toll-free roads and rural paths in Chihuahua and other states, without highlighting any specific section.
In addition, among the works carried out with federal funds during the current administration that can be listed on this border are a Paseo de las Luces on Juárez Avenue, health centers, community complexes to the west and south of the city, and a specialty hospital of the IMSS.
In October 2020, the president visited the city to inaugurate the first set of federal government works in the city that were part of the Urban Improvement Program of the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development.
These are the Paseo de las Luces on Juarez Avenue, which had an investment of 59 million 480 thousand 935 pesos; a health center on Portal del Cerezo Street, with an investment of 13 million 288 thousand 891 pesos; the La Montada Sports Center, with a federal investment of 21 million 136 thousand 892 pesos; the Parque Revolución in the Revolución Mexicana neighborhood, with 41 million 199 thousand 609 pesos, and a community complex on Ramón Rayón and Durango that includes an extreme park and a Community Center in the Tierra Nueva neighborhood, with 17 million 669 thousand 450 pesos.
On the other hand, the Guadalupe-Tornillo international crossing was opened during his administration, but it was not a project that began during this administration. Since 2016, the then governor César Duarte confirmed the visit of President Enrique Peña Nieto for the inauguration of the Guadalupe-Tornillo international bridge, but it never happened. The border complex began test operations in May 2023.
In addition, since December 2021, López Obrador has committed to rehabilitating the IMSS specialty hospital abandoned since the government of César Duarte and delivering it by the end of 2023. (Pavel Juárez)
