Alfa Romeo wants to continue its relaunch and growth process in this 2022 and is preparing to experience a second part of the year as an absolute protagonist. The Italian car manufacturer has in fact at least three novelties in store for the autumn, starting with the restylings of Giulia and Stelvio that seem to be about to be unveiled. Alongside the facelifts of the two models, the Tonale range will also be expanded, adding to its offer the plug-in hybrid version, spotted several times on the road in recent weeks for final tests before unveiling.
As for the sedan and the SUV, several rumors have leaked about what will be the main innovations object of the renewal process. On both models there should be news regarding the front, with new optical groups equipped with the three-element motif that debuted on the Tonale. At the moment there does not seem to be any substantial news regarding the rear but it is easy to imagine that even the tail lights will be involved in the renovation. Returning to the front, the news that will concern should also be different the bumper and grille with several rumors already leaked about in recent months. There should also be an important update inside the cockpit: even in this case something could be borrowed from Tonale, in particular with regard to the infotainment and the dashboard.
The range of engines deserves a separate chapter, with the Giulia and Stelvio engines that they should embrace electrification lightly. In fact, the introduction of mild-hybrid systems seems obvious, given that more radical changes on the structure of the Giorgio platform do not seem possible on the occasion of the restyling of the model. The MHEV 48 V technology with E-Booster seen on Maserati Grecale could therefore be added to the Alfa sedan offer. The future of diesel units has to be defined: at the moment diesel represents the majority of the sales of Giulia and the large SUV of Arese but with the electrification plans outlined by Alfa Romeo it is difficult to think that we can continue to focus on this mix of sale. However, it is possible that at least in the initial phase a diesel option will be maintained on the price list. Finally, the Giulia Quadrifoglio version has been confirmed with the Ferrari-derived V6: the 510 HP engine will in any case be updated to confirm the latest emissions regulations. Alfa Romeo Tonale instead will bring the hybrid on tap to its debut, with the 275 HP plug-in hybrid powertrain with the advanced hybrid system that will combine the 1.3 MultiAir turbo petrol engine of the Global Small Engine family that provides traction to the front wheels to one engine electric that works instead on the rear ones: to power the plug-in hybrid system there is one 15.5 kWh battery, which guarantees a zero-emission driving range of 80 kilometers in the city cycle and over 60 kilometers in the combined cycle. It can be fully recharged in 2.5 hours using the 7.4 kW quick charger.
