Sharjah (Al-Ittihad)
The Sharjah Sports Council crowned the Al-Hamriyah and Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Clubs with the “Sharjah Sports Sustainability Council” award, which it organized with the participation of 20 clubs, to celebrate the Year of Sustainability. The reasons for success were provided for the ceremony, which was held at the Sharjah Heritage Institute, and was attended by Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Members of the Sharjah Sports Board of Directors, chairmen and members of the clubs’ boards of directors, and members of the award committee.
The ceremony included a film about the stages of the award, a speech by the Chairman of the Council in which he praised the clubs’ response, congratulated the winners and thanked the work teams, and a speech by Maryam Yousef Al Hosani, Director of the Strategy and Performance Development Department, President of the Award, in which she reviewed the criteria, objectives, and the most important numbers and statistics, and on the sidelines of crowning the award winners. For those with the best initiatives, 5 athletes were honored for their achievements last year, and members of the award committee.
The Sharjah Falconers Club won first place for the Sports Sustainability Award, followed by Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled, then Chess and Culture for Girls in Sharjah in third place, the Sharjah Vintage Cars Club won first place, in the Best Work Team category, and the Khor Fakkan Club for the Disabled won first place, in the Best Work Team category. An initiative, an alternative training device for wheelchair runners, made by recycling scrap, for which the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club received the Overall Excellence Award. At the level of sports clubs, Maliha won first place, followed by Al Madam Club in second place, then Dibba Al Hisn in third place, Al Bataeh Club won first place in the Best Work Team category, and Khor Fakkan Football Company won first place in the Best Initiative category. Through the “Eagle Eye” initiative, which is surveillance cameras to increase security and safety on sports club buses, Al Hamriyah Club won the General Excellence Award.
The distinguished players were honored: Mohammed Saeed Al-Musaibi, the Sharjah Club player, who ranked tenth in the world rankings for the junior category under 11 years in table tennis, Ali Hamid Al-Loughani, from the Al-Bataeh Club, who ranked third in the “International Mental Arithmetic Competition,” and swimmer Hamad Al-Shehhi, a player in table tennis. Al Hamriyah, on the occasion of winning the gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle race in the “Second Arab Water Sports Championship” in Qatar, and Nasser Hussein Al Zarouni, the handball player for the Cubs of the Al Bataeh Club, winner of the Outstanding Student Award at the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, and Sultan Saleh Mohammed from the Club. Al Dhaid, on the occasion of his winning the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Sports Creativity Award”, as the best emerging athlete.
