Between 1996 and 1998 we saw the first manga anime adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin, the original work of the author Nobuhiro Watsuki that was published in the review Shonen Jump.
More than two decades later, after spin-offs, films, live-action and original animations, this series returns to television with a new production which is promoted with a first preview of just 19 seconds.
This announcement was revealed during in the framework of Jump Festa 2022 and reveals that production is already underway and comes from the hand of LIDEN FILMS, the studio behind Tokyo Revengers.
Unfortunately, there is no more information about this ad dedicated to Rurouni kenshin more what was offered in the first video. What is a fact is that we have plenty of questions about what is going to happen with this new production. We can only hope that it is a product that covers the entire original series.
Now, that would also have the story of when Kenshin gets his scar from the cross and the final battle against Enishi and, perhaps, count on the animation of the arc of Hokkaido.

Rurouni Kenshin and all his productions at animation level
As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, the first animation of Rurouni Kenshin aired between 1996 and 1998. We knew this production in Latin America as Samurai X and it didn’t tell the whole story.
A year later, in 1999, two original animations came out, which in North America we know as Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal and they tell us how our protagonist got the scar from the cross on his left cheek.
Between 2001 and 2002 there were two episodes of more than 90 minutes each, narrating the last days of Kaoru Y Kenshin. Here it was possible to appreciate for the first time in an animation the combat between our beloved wandering samurai and Enishi, the younger brother of Tomoe, the first love of Kenshin.
There are also two more animations that came out between 2011 and 2012 that once again presented us with the events that occurred in the Kyoto arch of Rurouni Kenshin.
We will be aware of what this new animation of Rurouni Kenshin by LIDEN Studio you can submit to us when more details are revealed.
