Dr. Osama Al-Azhari expressed, during an interview with Al-Ittihad, in conjunction with the International Day of Peace, the relationship between Egypt and Al-Azhar with the Emirates, in order to achieve cooperation between them in various scientific, cultural and religious fields, and to hold international conferences and symposiums that enhance the values of world peace and rapprochement between East and West. .
Tolerance initiatives
On the initiatives of tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of the other, Dr. Al-Azhari praised the tolerance initiatives launched and supported by the UAE, saying: “The country’s embrace of 200 nationalities of different sects and religions living in tolerance and coexistence, confirms that tolerance in the UAE is a global and unique model to be emulated.”
Al-Azhari stressed that the heavenly religions urged tolerance, coexistence, acquaintance and acceptance of the other, and that all laws came to demonstrate the unity of people and their acquaintance, pointing out that the Holy Quran called for acquaintance, cooperation and coexistence, and the rejection of violence and hostility between people.
Al-Azhari said: “In light of the economic crises that the world is facing due to the ongoing conflicts and wars, we are in need these days to spread the values of tolerance, peace, human solidarity, love and compassion among the peoples of the world to stop the bloodshed and renounce violence and hate speech,” calling on all humanity to raise the banner of tolerance and extinguish The fires of war and hate.
Egypt and the Emirates
On the efforts of Egypt and the UAE and cooperation in combating extremist ideology and terrorism and spreading world peace, Dr. Al-Azhari affirmed that Egypt and the UAE are a successful model in combating terrorism, pointing out that the two countries were among the first countries that realized early on the seriousness of the phenomena of extremism and terrorism and the need to dry up their sources and sources of funding, and work to combat Hate speech, and refuting rumors and false news promoted by terrorist groups, stressing the importance of strategic partnerships between religious institutions in both countries to combat extremism and terrorism.
He stressed that the UAE is cooperating with Egypt and Arab and Islamic countries in the face of terrorism and extremism, with the aim of achieving development and tolerance, praising the establishment of some international research and study centers accredited in the UAE to confront these phenomena that trouble people and seek to destroy societies and countries, including the “guidance” and “Sawab” centers. “Abu Dhabi Peace Forum” and “Trends”.
He pointed out that the noblest weapon to strike extremist ideas and confront the challenges facing the Arab and Islamic world is the intellectual confrontation, appreciating what research centers in the UAE are doing in revealing and exposing the ideas of extremist and terrorist groups, especially in light of the spread of cyberspace and social media that these entities exploited to spread their toxins. and implementing its plans through “digital terrorism”.
He stressed that these centers are bearing fruit in the UAE, the region and the world, and contribute to spreading societal peace, promoting peace in Muslim and non-Muslim societies, and helping to offer treatments for extremism, extremism, and delinquency to intellectual and armed violence and spreading the values of tolerance.
He pointed to the importance of cooperation between the centers for combating extremism and terrorism in the UAE and intellectual institutions in Egypt, especially Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, whose curricula are characterized by moderation, and the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta, which established the Salam Center for Studies of Extremism.
He noted that the conferences held every year with the participation of Emirati centers and institutions such as the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Emirati Endowments, in addition to Al-Azhar, Iftaa and Egyptian Endowments, aim to correct misconceptions and correct misconceptions of abnormal opinions that emerge from some affiliates of religions.
