The movement obtains three seats in Morterone (Lecco) and two in Valnegra (Bergamo)
The electoral debut of the Gay Lgbt + Party starts with a victory, albeit limited to two small towns in Lombardy. In fact, for the first time ever, some councilors were elected with their own party list. In Morterone (Lecco), the smallest Italian municipality, the Gay Party won three seats in the municipal council after having even come close to winning, having obtained 9 votes against the 12 of the future mayor of the “Morterone Insieme” civic list.
A similar result also in Valnegra, 209 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, where the candidate Andrea Viscardi received 14 preferences and the two elected councilors from the party lists. “This is a historic result – comments the national spokesman of the party Fabrizio Marrazzo – the five elected councilors show that where we manage to make ourselves known our political project is appreciated”.
In addition to the municipalities of Morterone and Valnegra, the Gay Party is also present in four regional capitals, in Rome, Milan, Turin and Naples. In the first three he presented a candidate of his own, while in the Neapolitan city he supported Antonio Bassolino. The threshold of 3% is far away, in all cities the percentages of consent fluctuate between 0.2 and 0.5%. In Turin the best result, there the candidate Davide Betti, also supported by the Animalist Party, broke through the wall of a thousand preferences.
The path is in the early stages, but the Gay Party aims to establish itself as a reality in the political landscape of the near future. «Today’s result in any case starts a cultural revolution, for which we will work again for the next few years», concludes Marrazzo.
