Move to another country It is a decision that more and more people make in Spain. This can happen for very different reasons, such as changing residence because we can’t find work, because it pays better in another country, because we want to learn languages or, simply, for the sake of living the experience.
Each reason is unique and personal, but what all people who leave their country usually have in common is the clash of cultures or the fact of having to adapt to certain changes in daily routine and in basic or vital issuessuch as language, food, education, social relationships, etc.
Furthermore, in many cases there are certain stereotypes we faceboth those that they have on us outside of Spain and those that we ourselves may have from the people who live in the country to which we move, such as between different nationalities there are rivalries or bad treatment between each other.
In the case of the content creator @medinhouses, he decided to go live in Morocco and, as indicated in some of his social media videos, he has more than six months living in the African country to work remotely, living a very different life from the one he had in Spain, as can be read in his Instagram biography: “I went to Morocco looking for waves and found stories”
“It seems like he’s his brother.”
In addition to all the adventures he tells about what his day-to-day life is like there or curiosities about the country, @medinhouses wanted to tell how he feels when he arrives in Morocco and how he is treated in this country for the simple fact of being Spanish: «That is to say who are Spanish and It seems like I’m their brother, in other words, it seems like they’ve known me all their lives.”start counting.
«All because they have been watching Madrid and Barça since they were children. You have no idea of the number of doors… the number of smiles you get when you say you are Spanish in this country. Come on, in my life I have said so much ‘hala Madrid’ or ‘visca Barça’, you don’t know what they want from us», assures the Spaniard.
The Spaniard emphasizes that he feels a lot of affection, something that many Spaniards may not imagine due to stereotypes that may exist about the clash of cultures and ways of being. «It’s something beautiful to see how they love us, really, so “Let’s try to love how they love us, please.”says @medinhouses, sending a message of love.
Similar experiences
When recounting his personal situation as a Spaniard in Morocco, other TikTok users, where he shared the video, wanted to join in sharing some similar experiences, although there are also those who disagree or compare how Moroccans are received in Spain, making irony about the topic. These have been some of the comments:
«When I was there, everyone greeted me with respect for being Spanish.and they even gave me bracelets and things, the best country in the world»
«The same affection that we receive here in Spain (laughing emoticons)
“Well yes, that’s right, here in Spain it’s the other way around, we only received hate”
«My second home for almost 10 years, but many would like to have the values that Moroccans have»
“I think it’s phenomenal, what’s happening is that we don’t receive the same treatment in your country, I’m not referring to all Spaniards, there are wonderful and very humble people.”
