A case was opened against a Magadan resident for justifying terrorism for online comments
A criminal case was opened against a 49-year-old resident of Magadan under the article on justification of terrorism due to comments published on the Internet. About it reported press service of the Investigative Committee for the region.
According to investigators, in the period from October 1 to December 30, 2023, the man regularly commented on news in one of the channels. In online publications, he called for terrorist attacks and strongly endorsed the actions of terrorists. Investigators discovered the comments and detained the suspect.
The court chose a preventive measure for the man in the form of imprisonment in a pre-trial detention center. The criminal investigation continues.
Earlier, FSB officers opened a criminal case for justifying terrorism against political scientist Boris Kagarlitsky (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent and included in the list of terrorists and extremists) because of his video about the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge. The next day, the defendant was arrested by the Syktyvkar court; he did not admit his guilt in the crime.
On December 12, the 2nd Western District Military Court fined the sociologist 609 thousand rubles and released him in the courtroom. Two months later, the Military Court of Appeal increased the sentence and sentenced him to five years in prison. On April 17, they began to transfer him to the colony.
