Kirby refused to confirm reports of ATACMS missiles shot down by the Russian Federation over Crimea
White House National Security Council (NSC) Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby declined to confirm that Russian air defense systems shot down six US ATACMS missiles transferred to Ukraine over Crimea. This is reported by RIA News.
“No and no. I cannot confirm reports that any of them were shot down,” Kirby told reporters.
The White House spokesman also did not answer the question about the number of ATACMS missiles transferred by Washington to Kyiv.
On April 24, it became known about the secret supply of ATACMS operational-tactical missiles by the United States to Ukraine. According to Politico, the United States included these munitions in a military aid package in March. At the same time, the publication notes, Washington did not publicly announce this action.
