The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, referred this Sunday to the information about the possibility of a change in leadership of the PSOE in Madrid ahead of the 2027 elections and has stated that “not even” Juan Lobato, the current leader of the party, “he deserves so much cruelty.”
Almeida has alluded to the information published this Saturday in ElDiario.es and the newspaper The Worldaccording to which the minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, Oscar Lopez, would be the favorite of the general secretary of the PSOE and president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to try to head the socialist list to the Community of Madrid.
The mayor has sent like this “a message of love and encouragement” to the current general secretary of the PSOE-M. “I think he deserves applause from all of us, of love, encouragement and support. Politics is cruel and politics is difficultbut not even Juan Lobato deserves such cruelty,” Almeida said this Sunday at the closing of the Committee of Mayors of the Madrid PP meeting in Aranjuez, before whom he also welcomed Óscar López to Madrid.
The mayor of the capital has echoed this information and remembering that last Wednesday Lobato accompanied Begoña Gómez, The wife of the President of the Government, in her appearance at the Madrid Assembly, stated that “it’s not easy to make a fool of yourself” that day by saying “how solvent” she had been, “when she didn’t say a single word.” “And two days later we know that Óscar López is his replacement; that is Juan Lobato,” Almeida stated.

We know that you are going to give us great afternoons of glory and that you are going to allow us to continue winning the regional and municipal elections, as we won them in the Community of Madrid.”
Sources from the General Secretariat of the PSOE of Madrid consulted by EFE this Saturday said that Juan Lobato will answer “like every Monday” for three years to all the questions that are asked” at the press conference of spokespeople of the Madrid Assembly.
