The noise generated by both the president’s appearance at the Moncloa and his wife’s appearance at the Madrid Assembly has stopped being heard by citizens. No one other than a far-right hooligan has been the least bit interested.
The appearance of Begoña Gómez in the investigation commission of the Assembly of the Community of Madrid ended with the same result as the in-person statement of Pedro Sánchez as a witness at the Moncloa Palace.
Nobody could have the slightest doubt about the sterility of both appearances. It was known with absolute certainty that both Begoña Gómez and Pedro Sánchez were going to refuse to answer any of the questions asked of them and, consequently, nothing would be gained from making them appear.
From a legal point of view, both the decision of the PP parliamentary majority in the Madrid Assembly and that of Judge Peinado are meaningless. Both fired with wet powder.
I also fail to see what advantage can be gained from a political perspective. The noise generated by both the president’s appearance in La Moncloa and his wife’s appearance in the Madrid Assembly has stopped being heard by citizens. To anyone other than a hooligan of the extreme right has been in the least interested in either of both appearances.
Why is Begoña Gómez still being persecuted politically and judicially? Does the PP in the Community of Madrid have any hope that it will be able to find some evidence that will allow it to fuel the complaint that Judge Peinado is investigating? Do you think that from the statement of the rector of the Complutense University some indication can be derived of an activity constituting a crime by the president’s wife? Knowing, as they cannot not know, the opinion of the rector, why do they persist in calling him to testify to reiterate that the conduct of both Begoña Gómez and that of the University has been legally irreproachable?
Does Judge Peinado have any hope that at some point he will be able to link the President of the Government with any possible irregularity in the professional conduct of his wife, which will allow him to submit a reasoned statement to the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court to initiate an investigation against he?
Because, at this point in the film, it is clear that the extension of the investigation into Begoña Gómez has no other meaning than to somehow reach her husband so that his conduct can be brought before the Second Chamber of the TS.
This has been known since the Second Chamber of the TS revoked the ruling of the National Court that convicted the founder of the so-called Clean Hands union for extortion. With this ruling, the TS protected the execution of said union and implicitly authorized it to continue down the same path.
At the time he did it, the hunt against Pedro Sánchez was already underway, with the target on his wife as a step to reach him. There was nothing until that moment, except for some news from tabloid media, but with this news, Manos Médicas prepared its complaint and Judge Peinado admitted it for processing.
Although there was no basis to file the complaint and although absolutely nothing has been found since then to keep it alive, it still has not been filed. For how long? I don’t know, but I sense that it will remain open until Judge Peinado, no matter how grotesque his legal reasoning may be, considers that he can submit the “reasoned” report against Pedro Sánchez to the Second Chamber of the TS.
The progress in constitutional degradation does not stop. We’ll see how much endurance the jug has and how much distance it has left to continue going to the source.
