So far this year, Consumers in Action has denounced more than 20 music festivals for committing irregularities that affect the rights of attendees and their economic interests. Mainly, for charging an additional amount separate from the base price of the ticket as ‘management fees’.
On this occasion he has denounced I love Reggaeton from Bilbao, Love to Rock from Valencia, Pride Beach Weekend from Cartagena, Rocanrola from Alicante and Sum Festival from the Canary Islands. The complaints have been presented to the authorities of consumer protection of the autonomous communities where the promoters of the events have their headquarters.
This is the same irregularity for which the association already denounced Madrid Salvaje last September and the Caudal Fest, Jardín de las Delicias, Extremúsika and Brava Madrid festivals this October.
The five festivals now denounced—like the previous ones—charge an extra 10% of the ticket price as a concept of ‘management expenses’. Thus, for example, if the ticket costs 48 euros, another 4.80 euros are subsequently added, leaving a total amount of 52.80 euros that the consumer must pay.
In this sense, the association understands that the management expenses They are part of the operating costs of business activityand which are already charged to the consumer in the sale price of a ticket. However, the festival organizer applies these expenses without providing any service to the consumer.
The association continues with its campaign to get consumer administrations to impose “strong” sanctions to those promoters who commit abuses against the people who attend their events, many of them repeatedly in each edition.
Thus, the list of reported concerts and festivals To date they are: I love Reggaeton from Bilbao, Love to Rock from Valencia, Pride Beach Weekend from Cartagena, Rocanrola from Alicante, Sum Festival de Canarias, Brava Madrid, Granada Sound, Kalorama Madrid, Mallorca Live Festival, Remember Campa from Santander, Madrid Salvaje, Mediterranean festival of Gandía, No Sin Música 2024 of Cádiz, Dreambeach Festival of Almería, Arena Festival of Mazagón (Huelva), Les Arts Festival in Valencia, Puro Latino Fest in Seville, Spring Festival in Alicante, Fortaleza Sound in Lorca (Murcia), Interstellar in Seville, Warm Up festival in Murcia, Festial! from Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real) and the promoters of the AC/DC concerts in Seville and Taylor Swift in Madrid.
between the imost frequent irregularities there is the collection of management expenses for returning the money that has not been consumed from the bracelets cashlessso that they keep any amount that is less than 1, 2 or 3 euros, depending on the festival. Also the prohibition of entering the venue with food and drink from outside or not allowing payment with cash, imposing bracelets as the only payment method within the venue.
Other abusive conditions that have also been reported by Facua include charging an extra fee to be able to re-enter the venue if the ticket is purchased for a single day of the festival, the payment of up to 30 euros for changing the name of the entry after the deadline indicated or charge an additional amount to the ticket price as ‘management fees’.
Facua points out in a statement that all users who have had to pay this concept in any of the events they have attended can go to the association so that evaluate your case and take actions in defense of their rights.
