A demonstration called by the neo-Nazi group Nucleo Nacional Tonight ended in the worst possible way, with several attacks, burning of containers and throwing of bottles and other blunt objects at the Police. This has forced the agents of the Police Intervention Units (UIP) to charge against those gathered on Ferraz Street, at a point 140 meters from the PSOE headquarters, which the Government Delegation itself marked as the limit allowed to prevent that the radicals reached the socialist offices.
The march, in which Francoist flags were displayed, started from Plaza España amid chants of “fucking red whoever doesn’t bounce”, “Spain, Christian and non-Muslim”, “here are the nationalists” or “terrorist journalists”. A bouquet of slogans common among the far-right, just over two hundred who toured the center of Madrid this Saturday, many of them with skinhead aesthetics or dressed in clothing to hide their faces. Shortly after starting the journey, the violent people threw chairs at a bar on Duque de Osuna Street, where several citizens, and some journalists, had to take refuge to avoid being attacked. And they have even gone as far as, according to some of those affected on Twitter, to spray the interior of the premises with pepper spray.
Thus, under a strong climate of tension, the journey has reached its climax when the congregants have reached Ferraz street on the corner of Marqués de Urquijo, where the fuse It didn’t take long to catch on. After 10:30 p.m., the rioters tried to move the security fences that blocked access to the PSOE headquarters, forcing the riot police to use force to contain their advance. After this, the radicals responded by throwing objects and even burning a container, which did not prevent the agents from dispersing them towards Pintor Rosales Street.
The Socialist Party itself has condemned on social networks that the streets of Madrid “are once again a place where fascist shouts are heard and Nazi salutes are seen.” In the same message, they have described the crowd of people seen in an attached video as “a black march that aims at the PSOE headquarters in Ferraz, where these hooded neo-Francoists will meet.”
