Helsinki the police had an arrest situation in Jätkäsaari early Wednesday morning. At 8:45 a.m., the police received a report of a suspected drunken driver.
According to the informant, the person had walked around the car in a way that made the informant suspect that he was intoxicated. When the police arrived, the person got into the car and tried to drive away, says the general manager Teemu Lappalainen from the Helsinki police.
The police arrested the person and carried him to the police car.
“In that context, a small handgun fell from his clothes to the ground. He did not threaten with a weapon before or during the arrest,” says Lappalainen.
“The weapon was obviously unauthorized. We are investigating the matter and also the origin of the weapon.”
Lappalainen does not consider the situation special.
“The police regularly come across guns.”
Police suspected of being arrested for drunk driving. According to Lappalainen, he was under the influence of a narcotic.
