Bloomberg: Home of Exploding Pager Supplier’s CEO Turns Out to Be Barracks
Budapest-based BAC Consulting Kft, linked to pager explosions in Lebanon, turns out to be a French gendarme barracks, writes Bloomberg.
According to the agency, BAC representatives show up at the office once a month to pick up mail. “The building in Paris listed as the address of the BAC CEO turned out to be a barracks for French gendarmes,” Bloomberg notes.
A post office employee in Budapest also said that the only evidence of BAC’s presence there was a representative who visited monthly to pick up mail. Hungarian authorities said that BAC Consulting had no production or operational facilities in the country and acted as a sales agent.
On September 17, several regions of Lebanon, including the southern suburbs of Beirut, were hit by massive pager explosions. The Palestinian movement Hamas said it held Israel responsible for the pager explosions in Lebanon. Later, in addition to pagers, ICOM radios, laptops, tape recorders and other gadgets began exploding in Lebanon.
