Grey heron daytime hunting filmed in Russian reserve “Kaluzhskie Zaseki”
A grey heron was filmed hunting during the day in the Russian reserve Kaluzhskie Zaseki. The corresponding video appeared on the page of the natural complex in “VKontakte”.
The posted footage shows the bird carefully studying the river. It slowly took one step, stopped, and then abruptly plunged its beak into the water. It is clear that the heron managed to catch a small fish in the river.
“Look at how much patience and persistence the bird has. And luck, of course, smiled on her: she caught a fish,” the authors of the post captioned the video.
Earlier, in the Taganay National Park in the Southern Urals, in the Chelyabinsk Region, a daytime hunt of a great grey owl was also filmed. Then, a camera trap captured the hunting bird on a fallen tree by the river. It looked around for a while and then decided to fly to the other end of the tree.
