Juarez City.- To serve women in a context of mobility with a human rights approach, the Municipal Institute for Women trained its staff through the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
The teams that benefited from this discussion were the Prevention and Specialized Care Units, the Institute reported.
The aim of the talk was to provide tools for assisting women and girls in situations of mobility who are victims of gender violence, since, according to the local agency, the context in which they find themselves represents a risk factor and, therefore, a double situation of vulnerability of their human rights.
IRC staff visited the institute’s facilities to share experiences and actions they carry out in the humanitarian field aimed at the migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking population, so that the institute’s staff has the necessary tools and skills to assist and channel people in a situation of mobility who arrive to request help.
According to the institute, inter-institutional coordination has been carried out to strengthen the Care and Prevention teams that comprise it, through constant training and updating to provide psychological first aid to people on the move, care in cases of gender violence for this population and channeling to shelters and safe spaces for women.
On previous occasions, the Municipal Women’s Institute has reported on the formation of inter-institutional networks with, for example, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Women Victims of Crime for Reasons of Gender and the Family, with the municipal DIF, preparatory schools, Women Peace Builders and even cultural managers for the strengthening of the institute and its various areas.
