Juarez City.- Today, August 3, the Health Department celebrates International Family Planning Day, a date dedicated to promoting the importance of reproductive control.
Daphne Santana Fernández, head of the agency, stressed that family planning allows women and men to decide the number of children they want to have through various practices and methods.
Santana Fernández stressed that family planning includes a wide range of services, from comprehensive sexuality education and prevention of sexually transmitted infections, to medical care during pregnancy and infertility treatment.
She also stressed the importance of informing the population about contraceptive methods and their benefits in order to avoid unplanned pregnancies and diseases.
In the framework of this commemoration, the Health Department reminds citizens of the importance of accessing adequate information on the different contraceptive methods available.
Santana Fernández also highlighted the maternal and child health component within sexual and reproductive health, which ensures a safe and protected pregnancy, and highlights how care during and after pregnancy directly influences the health of the mother and the newborn.
