Alberto Veronesi conductor _
“Slander is a breeze”: protest sit-in by Veronesi against the Fatto Quotidiano article
This morning the maestro Alberto Veronesi held a protest sit in with piano and opera singer in via di Sant’Erasmo 2, in Rome. It was performed by the Barber of Seville “Slander is a breeze”, against the article of Daily fact according to which Veronesi he would not have graduated with honors at the Conservatory and against which the president of the Puccini Committee has announced a lawsuit.
Veronesi against Il Fatto Quotidiano: the “falsehoods” reported by the newspaper about the maestro
“Two criminal complaints have already been submitted to the Court of Rome for il Fatto Quotidiano for aggravated defamation. Other complaints and reports to the Guarantor for Publishing are in preparation. I specify that anyone who persists in defamatory statements will be sued in accordance with the law”, he specified Maestro Veronesi who with a series of documents dismantled the “falsehoods” published by the newspaper.
Falsehood 1) the undersigned “he would have failed all the conservatory subjects and would have no qualifications“.
It is specified that the writer is in possession of three bachelor’s degreesmade equivalent to a degree by law 224 of 2012, at the State Conservatories of Milan, Naples and Caltanissetta, and that the weighted average of the marks obtained, which also include a 10 cum laude, is equal to 9.00 if considers honors to be worth an extra point as an orientation for many universities (or 8.83 if only half a point is considered to be worth).
The diplomas are published below.
It should be noted that the undersigned has never failed any Conservatory exam, contrary to what was reported “by hearsay” by the journalist.
Falsehood 2) in the confirmation exam of the first year of “experimental composition” I would have failed “due to serious cognitive and musical inability”. This is all totally falseor: on the report, which I attach, it reads verbatim, ‘first year confirmation exam 86/87 grade 9‘. The following year, like almost half of Professor AG’s students, I resigned from the Conservatory to present myself as a private student for the “main composition” exam (I also attach screenshots of those who resigned).
Falsehood 3) the statement “He presented himself as a private individual and we gave him a six just to let him pass, saying between us, he will follow in his father’s footsteps and will never be a musician. So I barely get through with the minimum grade.” This defamatory statement is false. The report of the lower completion of composition (fifth year), which I attach, achieved in 1988, at the same Conservatory of Milan, reports the mark of 7, and not 6. (Without wanting to make comparisons Giacomo Puccini, from the Conservatory of Milan , obtained his diploma with 163/200, equal to 8.15, also to be attacked by the FQ?).
Falsehood 4) Veronesi has never obtained the Abbiati Award from Italian critics just to pass it off, saying between us, he will follow in his father’s footsteps and not as he declared.
False, in Veronesi’s CV it is in fact specified that he was artistic director of the Puccini Festival “winning the Abbiati prize in 2003” for the production of “La Boheme”: here it is correctly specified that the production of la bohème was the winner of the award, with sets by Jean Michel Folon, sets commissioned by Alberto Veronesi as artistic director. Similarly, the Oppenheimer film is said to have won 7 Oscars, including for best actor, best director, best supporting actor, etc. Nothing false declared by Alberto Veronesi.
Falsehood 5) “Veronesi did not graduate with full marks as he declared”.
Meanwhile, Il Fatto Quotidiano should come to an agreement with itself, in one article it declares that I don’t have diplomas, in another it declares that I didn’t graduate with full marks. Alberto Veronesi, as already illustrated, obtained an average of 9 (if praise is considered as a point) or 8.83 (if praise is considered half a point). Anyway, with flying colours. I would add that Il Fatto Quotidiano wrote about myself in 2020, when I stood for election with the Democratic Party: “It is not Veronesi’s first involvement in politics: already in 2016 he had been elected to the city council in Milan with Beppe’s Democratic Party Sala but had given up for his career. Now, after conducting the Vienna Philharmonic and the Puccini Festival, he has decided to commit himself.” For this newspaper, before, when I was active on the left, I was the director of the Vienna Philharmonic, today, who supports Giorgia Meloni, I am someone who failed the Conservatory exams. I find it shameful to stoop to propagating falsehoods, without the factual confirmation of the documents, in order to defame the undersigned. I find it shameful that Il Fatto Quotidiano defames me because I declared that I respect Giorgia Meloni.
