The Eagles of America are very close to imposing a new achievement in the mexican soccer and it is being able to boast two titles consecutively. Since 1996, Liga MX established the Short Tournaments and since then only 3 teams have been able to achieve that feat and the Coapa painting until now has not been one of them.
In 2013, America was able to achieve that historic distinction but things did not go as expected. In the 2013 Clausura they were crowned against Cruz Azul, then in the 2013 Apertura they sought it against the León team that won the title, curiously later they would be the team that would add a new two-time championship.

Since the arrival of the Short Tournaments only Pumas, León and Atlas have been able to add two titles in two consecutive tournaments. América, Tigres are some of the clubs that have looked for it and that to date have not been able to achieve it.
The university students achieved their feat with the help of Hugo Sánchez in the Clausura 2004 and Apertura 2004 tournaments. León, for its part, was crowned twice in the Apertura 2013 tournaments and the Clausura 2014 la Fiera achieved that great distinction from the hand of Gustavo Matosas and Atlas was the most recent in the Apertura 2021 and in the Clausura 2022 with Diego Cocca.
America will begin its path to two-time championship this Thursday, May 23, when they visit Cruz Azul’s house at 8:00 pm (Central Mexico) and can be seen live on the TUDN signal. The return is scheduled for May 26 at the Azteca Stadium at 7:00 pm (Central Mexico) and will also be seen on TUDN and TV Azteca.
