Yesterday, the European Union announced that it will host the eighth Brussels Ministerial Conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region” on the 27th of this month, with the participation of representatives of its member states, countries neighboring Syria, third countries, and representatives of the United Nations, international organizations, and Syrian civil society.
The European External Action Service said, in a statement, that the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy in the European Union, Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, will co-chair the conference on behalf of the European Union, along with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Affairs Oliver Varhelyi, and the European Commissioner for Crisis Management. Janez Lenarčić.
She added that this conference aims to mobilize vital financial support in order to meet the most urgent needs of Syrians and their host communities, and to renew the international community’s support for a political solution in line with UN Security Council Resolution No. 2254. On the 30th of last month, the European Commission hosted the Dialogue Day of the Brussels Conference. The eighth ministerial conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region,” in the presence of more than 600 participants.
