Milano Cortina 2026 promotes the importance of mental health in sport
With the arrival of the Milan Cortina Winter Games in 2026, there is an electrifying atmosphere that pervades the Lombard capital and beyond. While attention usually focuses on the physical performance of athletes, there is a growing awareness of the importance of do not neglect the psychological aspect of athletes. Indeed, high-level competitions require not only impeccable physical preparation, but also solid mental preparation to face the challenges that arise on ice and snow.
Precisely in recent days the CONI Lombardy Regional Committee and the Order of Psychologists of Lombardy (OPL) have signed the Framework Agreement of collaboration on sport psychology through which the parties undertake to carry out a series of initiatives in the Lombardy territory suitable for enhance the mental preparation and psychological well-being of the athletes who will be involved in competitions.
Among the commitments made by the two entities, CONI Lombardy undertakes to disseminate the agreement among its local structures, the National Sports Federations (FSN), the Schools of Physical Education and the Higher Education Institutes for Physical and Sports Education (EPS and DSA) of the region. Furthermore, si proposes to develop training projects for the personal and professional growth of sports operators and to encourage sponsorship for sports-related initiatives organized by the OPL. On the other hand, the Order of Psychologists of Lombardy is committed to disseminating the agreement among its members and through regional channels, as well as developing training projects in the sector of sports psychology and promoting sponsorship for organized psychology-related initiatives from CONI Lombardy.
“The objective of this Agreement is to enhance the fundamental role of Sports Psychology in the main areas of application: from the training and psycho-educational field to the enhancement of the performance of athletes and teams. The Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic event is a unique opportunity to intercept the general Lombard public and highlight the contribution of psychologists in and for sport”, declared Laura Parolin, President of the Order of Psychologists of Lombardy (in photo).
Thanks to this collaboration, the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games become not only an exciting showcase of sport, but also a stage where the mental preparation of athletes is a priority and where the concrete commitment towards psychological well-being takes on strong importance in the world of sport.

A support, that guaranteed by the document signed with the Order of Psychologists of Lombardy, which will allow the creation of initiatives aimed at strengthening a training process of the person, before that of the athlete, in which sports practice plays a fundamental role.
