There IM L6 it is the first electric car on the market to adopt one solid state battery which should guarantee greater autonomy 1,000 kilometers (according to the Chinese CLTC cycle). The solid state battery has been tested in extreme conditions of temperature, demonstrating a low probability of fire of the cells. Furthermore, quadruple protection technology has been implemented to ensure the safety of the batteries, including a thermal insulation specific.
The IM Motors L6 battery, thanks to the dry solid layer, reduces internal resistance, allowing a recharge quick up to 900V. This solid layer helps contain the expansion of the silicon-based materials, ensuring excellent performance during charging and discharging cycles of the battery.

The IM Motors L6 may lay claim to the title of the first electric car with a solid-state battery, but it will soon be joined on the market by other electric cars with the same type of battery. Another Chinese automaker, Baoya, announced the Baoya FB77, a sedan with a Pininfarina design, with a range of 600 kilometers, less than that of the IM Motors L6. Also other car manufacturers like Toyota, Nissan, VolkswagenNio are working on the development of solid-state batteries.
Among the disadvantages of solid-state batteries are: high production costs (almost double compared to a traditional lithium battery with liquid electrolyte) which also influence sales prices. As a result, cars equipped with this technology may have higher costswhich may initially hinder sales.
