Commentary FP1 Austin
Consistently fast throughout the session, Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) recorded the best performance of the first free practice sessions in Austin. Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac) and Pedro Acosta (KTM GasGas) also appeared to be in excellent form, second and third respectively. Bastianini (Ducati) fourth, Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini) eighth and 'Pecco' Bagnaia (Ducati) worked on used tyres, nevertheless recording promising times. Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46) fifth and Franco Morbidelli (Ducati Pramac) seventh met again in the upper areas. In the shade Aleix Espargarò (Aprilia), 19th.
We will start again at 10pm Italian time, when it will already be time to push for a place in the top 10 which will guarantee direct access to Q2 on Saturday.
Checkered flag from the Austin FP1 – The session ends with a new improvement by Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) in 2'03.294, second is Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac), third Pedro Acosta (KTM GasGas).
18.29 – Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac) is now behind Vinales, just a tenth away.
18.27 – Vinales (Aprilia) puts himself clearly in front in 2'03.377, a full four tenths faster than Pedro Acosta (KTM GasGas). Enea Bastianini (Ducati) rose to third place, also on used tyres.
18.25 – Vinales (Aprilia) takes second place in 2'03.818. Bagnaia (Ducati), on used tyres, is currently sixth in 2'04.242.
18.23 – Acosta (KTM GasGas) takes the lead in 2'03.802, followed by Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini) in 2'04.003.
18.20 – Nice lap by Franco Morbidelli (Ducati Pramac) in 2'04.229. Miller (KTM) therefore precedes Morbidelli (Ducati Pramac) and Raul Fernandez (Aprilia Trackhouse).
18.17 – Jack Miller (KTM) sets the best time in 2'04.210, eight hundredths faster than world championship leader Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac). Bagnaia (Ducati) rose to sixth place in 2'04.604.

18.13 – Marc Marquez quickly climbs to fourth place. The new leader is Martin (Ducati Pramac) in 2'04.297, then Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46) and Vinales (Aprilia).
18.10 – Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini) took the lead in 2'04.499, seven hundredths quicker than Vinales.
18.06 – Step forward by Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini) in 2'05.514: the Spaniard is 15th. Vinales (Aprilia) is still leader, with Miller (KTM) second and Binder (KTM) third.
18.04 – Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini) in 2'06.328, and is 19th, 1″7 away from Vinales' reference lap. Michelin reports that the riders complained about the lack of grip on the new asphalt.
6.02pm – Alex Marquez (Ducati Gresini) crashes in Turn 12. Miller had set the best time in 2'04.359, but his lap was canceled because it was recorded under the yellow flag regime.

Marc Marquez's (Ducati Gresini) first run was not noteworthy: the Spaniard was last in 2'09.427. Penultimate Alex Rins (Yamaha), winner in Austin last year, in 2'08.385.
5.56pm – Vinales (Aprilia) is always fast, this time he drops to 2'04.575. Behind him now Bastianini (Ducati) in 2'04.983.
5.54pm – Lap times continue to drop, with Vinales (Aprilia) still at the top of the rankings in 2'04.872, followed by Bagnaia (Ducati) and Martin (Ducati Pramac).
5.51pm – Vinales (Aprilia) is still ahead of everyone in 2'05.898, then Acosta (KTM GasGas) and Bezzecchi (Ducati VR46). Marc Marquez (Ducati Gresini) made a cautious approach, now 19th in 2'09.427.

5.45pm – Green light for FP1 in Austin – Forty-five minutes available to riders to test their bike on the track of the Grand Prix of the Americas.
5.35pm – Sunny skies in Austin, everything is ready for the first free practice session. As usual, there will be no ranking implications: three quarters of an hour will be free for the 22 riders of the premier class.
