The Viareggio Carnival officially opened at 4pm, the triple cannon shot with Burlamacco and Ondina kicked off the first of the six scheduled Masked Courses. The nine first category allegorical floats, the 4 second category, the 8 group masquerades and the 8 isolated ones of the 151st year of the Carnival in Viareggio, in addition to the non-competition aggregation platforms, paraded along the Viali a Mare. A show of music, allegorical works, choreography, creativity. The official morning ceremony at Palazzo delle Muse was attended by the main institutions and organizers Eugenio Giani President of the Tuscany Region, Giorgio Del Ghingaro Mayor of Viareggio, Daniela Ballard General Consul of the United States in Florence, Marialina Marcucci President of the Viareggio Carnival, Massimo Bottura chef and Fabrizio Lombards, aka The usual Dandy finalist at Special prize awarded during the welcome ceremony. The opening Masked Course continued until after sunset, giving the suggestion of the illuminations on the allegorical works. At the end of the parade, a pyromusical show is scheduled. The Viareggio Carnival represents a cultural symbol of Italy throughout the world.
