The dispute between criminal gangs over Ecuadorian territory has led to bloody clashes, where civilians are caught in the middle of the bullets. Currently, Ecuadorian families live in constant fear of being victims of an attack or a stray bullet, as happened in December 2023 with four children between 4 and 6 years old, or on January 9 with the Guayaquil musician Diego Gallardo.
