The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost over 215 thousand people in 2023. This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the full text of his speech at a thematic meeting at the Ministry of Defense is given by the official Telegram– channel of the military department.
In addition, over the past year, Ukrainian troops lost 28 thousand weapons, the minister reported.
The Russian Army retains the strategic initiative in the area of the special military operation, Shoigu emphasized. Military assistance provided to Ukraine by the West will not change the situation on the line of combat contact, he added.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a more than 17-fold increase in ammunition production since the beginning of the special operation. Also, according to the ministry, the number of infantry fighting vehicles produced by defense enterprises increased by 3.6 times.
