“The Exorcist”, film directed by William Friedkin, is one of the most iconic horror films in history. From the real case that inspired the tape to the mysterious stories inside the recording set, there is a whole series of legends around the tape. However, few are aware of the case. Lalo GarzaMexican who was in charge of redubbling for the extended edition.
Garza is recognized for being the voice of Krillin in “Dragon Ball”, but not many remember that he was also the dubbing director in the Dragon Ball version. “The exorcist” with never-before-seen scenesoriginally released in 2000.
It was not until 2016 in a live broadcast that Lalo would tell everything that happened to him while he was in the middle of that job: a kind of nonsense that, despite being skeptical, seemed very strange to him.
Lalo, a skeptic put to the test
It all started from the moment Lalo set out to watch the movie. That night, while he watched the film, the power went out in his house. That this happened was strange, since the building where she lived had a private power plant to avoid that.
What’s worse, when the power came back on, the TV and the VCR I was watching the film on automatically turned on and the tape resumed right at the famous spider scenein which Linda Blair comes down the stairs in a peculiar way.
Three tires in one hour
Later, while the recording sessions had already started, Lalo suffered a rare episode again on an outing with his friend. While he was driving, one of the tires on his car went flat; nothing weird until next.
When he was leaving his companion at his house, the same tire punctured again and Lalo changed it for the spare. But just a few minutes later, with the car stopped, another tire went flat out of nowhere.
“Three tires went flat in one hour. Since when here do you get three flat tires in an hour? Garza recalled.
Mom, is that you?
That same weekend, after the incident in the car, Lalo was expecting a visit from his mother, so he went to bed early. The next day, in the morning, a bang from his front door jolted him awake.
“It bothers me when they wake me up with very loud noises”, counted. So, angry, he went to complain to his mother why she had slammed the door so hard. “Mom, I’ve told you a thousand times not to…”, but there was no one there and everything was still closed.
An experience you will never forget
What followed for Lalo Garza was more weird stuff. A strange noise crept into the recording booth, one of the tapes got stuck in the scene where the face of the devil appears and once the Mexican saw a shadow behind him in his car.
When he finished his work, he felt an enormous relief. “Super freaked out, I’m so scared, damn movie, I’m glad I finished it!”, remember he said to himself.
