Erling Haaland has now scored a total of nine goals in his first five matches in the Premier League.
Football A Norwegian striker in the English Premier League Erling Haaland scored another hat-trick for Manchester City on Wednesday night when City thrashed Nottingham 6-0. Haaland, who moved to City from Borussia Dortmund, also scored a hat-trick in the previous match, and he has scored a record nine goals in total in his first five matches.
They reached the previous record of eight goals in the first five Premier League matches Sergio Aguero and Mickey Quinn.
City coach Pep Guardiola described Haaland as a “special talent”.
“I know he’s happy to score goals, but I think he wants to win. The records are OK, but I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t like it if we didn’t win,” the coach described.
City’s other scorers were João Cancelo with one and Julian Alvarez with two goals.
Later on the same evening, Liverpool took a 2–1 victory over Newcastle with a last-minute goal. Fabio Carvalho the goal was recorded in the 98th minute of the game.
“Perfect moment to win because the game was difficult. What a great goal from the birthday hero”, the Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp stated after the match, referring to Carvalho’s 20th birthday the previous day.
Liverpool were coming off last Saturday’s 9-0 win over Bournemouth. With the result, Liverpool achieved the biggest win in Premier League history.
In other Wednesday night matches, the battle between Arsenal and Aston Villa ended 2-1 for Arsenal. West Ham and Tottenham played to a 1-1 draw, and the game between Bournemouth and Wolves ended in a goalless 0-0.
