Icy cold covers Ukraine war: weather expert warns of extreme onset of winter – and danger to life
While the temperatures in Germany are slowly rising and towards the end of the week highs in the direction of 16 and 17 degrees are reached, a low is expected in Ukraine of all places. As the weather expert Dominik Jung reports, light frost must also be expected during the day in the Ukraine from Thursday. Temperatures of zero to minus 5 degrees are to be expected during the day, at night the temperatures should drop to minus ten to minus 15 degrees. Particularly dramatic: in the meantime the heating has failed in many places, and the electricity has also failed in many places during the Ukraine war.
And the cold could also become a major problem for soldiers and refugees. As Dominik Jung further explains, the weather situation becomes particularly explosive due to the “strong east wind”. The values during the day should be perceived as temperatures of up to minus ten degrees, at night it can easily feel like minus 20 degrees.

“While we finally have heat in addition to the sun and drought, it’s getting particularly brutal in Ukraine,” the expert continued. According to Jung, the situation at these temperatures could be life-threatening for many civilians fleeing or in unheated bunkers and apartments. The extreme onset of winter over Ukraine is expected to last until Monday or Tuesday. “You have to fear the bad,” the weather expert from Wiesbaden continued.
