The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai seized 366 forged documents for passengers traveling through Dubai airports during the first quarter of this year, confirming that it possesses the latest inspection and auditing devices available globally, as well as trained national cadres capable of detecting forged documents within 30 seconds.
The Department’s Document Inspection Department Advisor, Expert Aqeel Ahmed Al-Najjar, confirmed in press statements during a field visit to the Document Inspection Center at Dubai Airport yesterday that the total number of forgery cases that the Center seized during the first quarter of this year was 366 cases, compared to 355 cases during the first quarter. From last year, while the number of documents that were examined during the past year reached 16,127 documents, 1,232 documents were seized, and the number of cases that were referred to the Public Prosecution was 443 cases, where the forged documents were dealt with according to their different cases.
Al-Najjar stated that the administration established the Documents and Inspection Center and listed it as an accredited body in the courts and judicial and judicial authorities in the country, and launched its services in 2018, so that the center’s work is limited to examining travel documents and related documents, which include “passports and travel documents, identity cards, and entry permits of all kinds.” Residency cards (issued from foreign countries, such as the American green card). The inspection and auditing processes include all security means, seals, and electronic chips associated with these documents. The center has an integrated laboratory equipped with the latest precise technologies specialized in this field.
He continued: “The center provides its services to all concerned parties in the country, in addition to training services, and this includes some airline companies and their employees concerned with verifying the identities of passengers and following up and organizing their boarding of aircraft. It also provides assistance to all parties wishing to verify the authenticity of the documents and documents received by them, including: That is individuals who need such services, such as people who obtain passports from some foreign countries through intermediaries and wish to verify the validity of the passport, or passports that are referred to the center by the General Administrations of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the country, and which belong to people who have changed their nationalities, They obtained new passports from some countries, and they apply to change their identity data and residences registered with those departments according to the new passport data, as the center examines the passport and ensures its authenticity.
He added: “The center relies 100% on national cadres in conducting its work, who have sufficient experience as a result of continuous training and qualification, which includes the passport officers working in the first grade, who check the documents, and they number 1,500 passport officers in Building No. 1, Building No. 2, and Building No. No. 3 (entry and exit), and document examiners (second grade) who carry out the auditing operations, numbering (30) examiners, all of whom are citizens.”
He continued: “The checks include departures who are referred to the country’s judicial authorities, if it is found that they carry forged or forged travel documents, whether they were aware of this, or were victims who were deceived and misled by some party, where the prosecution and courts decide their cases, as for the arrivals.” To the country with forged documents or passports, their entry is prevented and they are immediately returned to the destinations and countries from which they came.
