Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address British MPs tomorrow via video conference, the UK House of Commons said on Monday.
“All parliamentarians want to hear directly from the president, who will address us live from Ukraine. This is an important opportunity for this House,” said House of Commons Speaker Lindsay Hoyle.
Zelensky’s speech, which will not be questioned by lawmakers, will be a “historic” occasion, added Hoyle, who thanked the “incredible” work of parliament officials to make it possible.
Tonight, screens will be installed on both sides of the Chamber, located at the Palace of Westminster, so lawmakers can see the Ukrainian president during his speech, scheduled for 5pm tomorrow (14:00 GMT).
Zelensky, who spoke at the US Congress on Saturday and last Tuesday at the European Parliament, demands more weapons from Western countries to deal with the Russian invasion, as well as the establishment of a no-fly zone over Ukraine.
