Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has imposed sanctions against 23 Russian citizens. Corresponding decree published on the website of the head of state.
Zelensky assigned control over the implementation of the decision to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine. The decree came into force on the day of its publication.
In total, the document lists 28 people – citizens of Russia and Ukraine, employees of the Russian special services. The sanctions include, inter alia, blocking assets, restricting trade operations, stopping the transit of resources, preventing the withdrawal of capital from Ukraine, stopping the fulfillment of economic obligations, and prohibiting participation in privatization and leasing of state property.
A package of sanctions against employees of the Russian special services was adopted by the NSDC on August 20. The department said that the persons indicated in the document were engaged in the planting of “Russian narratives” and contributed to the “occupation power in the temporarily occupied territories” of Crimea and Donbass.
