Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded this Friday (7) from Western countries that Russia receive “not a single dollar” more for the sale of its oil and “not a single euro” for Russian gas to prevent The war continues.
Zelensky made that appeal in his usual late-night speech, referring to the European Union’s eighth package of sanctions against Russia, which plans to “limit” the shipping of Russian oil and its “oil revenues”.
“This is good. But it is just the beginning. We must ensure that the terrorist state does not receive any benefit from the sale of oil and gas. So that not a single dollar of oil and not a single euro of gas can go to the continuation of the Russian war against Ukraine and the whole civilized world. I am confident that this will be guaranteed in due course,” he added.
On the situation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, Zelensky said that any attempts by Russia to transfer its ownership “are futile and, frankly speaking, stupid.”
“This is a nuclear power plant. It’s not a palace, Yukos or anything else the Russian leader has already managed to steal,” he pointed out.
In this regard, he described the meeting held in Kiev with the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, and his support that the plant “belongs to Ukraine” as “important”.
“Now there are about 500 occupants at the plant. And that’s nothing more than 500 disaster risks. The world understands that. And I’m grateful for the support of all those who are fighting for Ukraine’s return of full control over the plant.” and for its complete demilitarization,” he added.
