President of Ukraine Zelensky: Turkey and the UN must guarantee the safety of grain exports
Kyiv is in talks with Turkey and the UN on security guarantees for Ukrainian grain exports, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson. TASS.
As the politician specified, representatives of Ukraine responsible for the safety of grain exit from the ports are actively working with international partners. “It is very important that someone guarantee the safety of the ships of certain countries, except for Russia, which we do not trust,” he stressed.
Zelensky believes that Turkey should guarantee the safety of the ships. He added that Kyiv is directly negotiating with UN Secretary General António Guterres. “We are working on different ways, both rail and river, to export our grain. And we are increasing our exports every day,” he stressed.

Zelensky called the export of Ukrainian grain a difficult, but definitely possible mission. According to him, now Ukraine has 22 million tons of grain, and about 60 million tons more is expected in the fall.
Earlier it became known that Ukraine turned to Turkey with a request to detain and arrest a vessel flying the Russian flag, allegedly transporting Ukrainian grain from Berdyansk.
