Today, the horse racing circuit in Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco, is hosting the activities of the His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Racing Festival, where the eighth edition of Emirates Day Abu Dhabi is expected to witness a large audience of fans of purebred Arabian horse racing.
The competitions are topped by the Grand Prize of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup, may God rest his soul, and the Cup of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, in addition to the Al Wathba Stallions Cup, with a total prize money of 550 thousand Moroccan dirhams.
The holding of the festival races comes with the support and encouragement of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Office. It is an important international event being organized in many countries, and aims to promote purebred Arabian horse racing throughout the world. .
The unprecedented event is organized by the Royal Horse Encouragement Company (Source), under the sponsorship of the 16th edition of the His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Racing Festival. The Morocco stage is considered one of the main stages of the unprecedented global festival, and 39 purebred Arabian horses participate in it.
The Zayed Cup was allocated for purebred Arabian horses at the age of 4 years and above, for a distance of 1,900 metres, with a total prize money of 320,000 Moroccan dirhams, with the participation of 11 horses, most notably “Nourhadi” led by Zuhair Madihi, and “Ghasham” led by Abdel Rahim Faddoul.
The 1,900-meter race of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Cup, with a prize of 160,000 Moroccan dirhams, attracts 16 elite horses aged four years and above, led by “Laheeb Atlas,” led by Omar Lakjal, and “Dab Al-Jabah,” led by Sufyan Abu Hayyan.
The Al Wathba Farm Cup, for a distance of 1,600 metres, with a prize money of 70,000 Moroccan dirhams, was allocated to young horses at the age of only three years. The most prominent challengers were the undefeated horse in 4 races, “Ould Zeinat”, led by Omar Lakgal, and “Al Baya Fall”, which was undefeated in three races. Led by Khaled Iba.
A new version of the event will be held at the Marrakesh Horse Racing Circuit, in partnership between Morocco and the Emirates in the field of purebred Arabian horse racing. Since 2017, the Marrakesh Horse Racing Circuit has been hosting the His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Racing Festival. The festival includes races for the crown jewel of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Zayed Cup, the Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Cup, the Al Wathba “Stallions” Cup, and the World Forum for Arabian Horse Racing.
The first races of the festival started strongly on January 11, with new races being added in this 2024 season, and it will witness the organization of 152 local and international races around the world, including races that have been upgraded to classified categories, including races for the first category, the second category, and the third category.
