The G7 countries called on the Russian Federation and Ukraine to return to the negotiating table on the Minsk agreements, but it is necessary to put “Ukraine with Ukraine” at the negotiating table. On December 12, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova wrote about this in her Telegram channel.
In her opinion, the G7 countries, speaking about the participation of the Russian Federation in the negotiations, have acknowledged their inability to answer for their own mistakes.
“Interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine, which led to a fatal split in society. Manual management of the processes of power change, which ended in an unconstitutional coup, ”the diplomat listed the actions of the West.
She also noted that respect for the interests of the minority was violated (not on a quantitative basis, but due to the lack of the opportunity to be represented in government institutions) on the example of support for the Kiev regime. In addition, the West refused to work with Kiev on the implementation of the Minsk agreement complex. It was they who gave hope for transferring the solution to the conflict into a negotiated mode, the representative of the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
At the same time, the West shifted responsibility to Moscow for “its own hack.”
“It is not Russia and Ukraine that needs to be brought to the negotiating table. And Ukraine and Ukraine, ”concluded Zakharova.
On December 11, following the first day of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Group of Seven (G7), unity was expressed about the consequences for Russia in the event of an allegedly possible invasion of Ukraine. It was clarified that if Moscow decides not to take the path of reducing diplomatic tensions, this will entail huge consequences and serious costs.
On December 10, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced that at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 countries in Liverpool, they would discuss the creation of a united front against Russian policy towards Ukraine.
On November 21, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the West is artificially whipping up hysteria with its statements about the alleged preparation of Russia for an attack on Ukraine. According to him, provocations are not ruled out, and the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance should stop “pumping up Ukraine with modern weapons.”
On December 7, online talks were held between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden. The Kremlin said that the Russia-US summit was frank and businesslike.
During the conversation, Biden emphasized the allegedly “threatening” nature of the movements of Russian troops near the Ukrainian borders and outlined sanctions measures that the United States and its allies would be ready to apply in the event of further escalation of the situation.
Putin replied that there is no need to shift the responsibility onto the shoulders of the Russian Federation, since it is NATO that is making dangerous attempts to conquer Ukrainian territory and is building up its military potential at the Russian borders.
Kiev launched a military operation against Donbass, whose residents did not agree with the results of the change of power in 2014. In the current situation, the Ukrainian authorities blame Moscow, which has repeatedly stressed that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict, and has called on Kiev for a settlement.
